New $60,000 “GOLD RUSH” Series for 2024
The Ballarat Invitation Homing Club is proud to inform racing pigeon fanciers,
Australia wide, of the inception of an exciting new race series with the inaugural
event to be conducted during the 2024 race season. Named, the “GOLD RUSH”, in
honor of Ballarat’s rich mining heritage, the series will consist of 3 races over 3
distances conducted fortnightly over a 6 week period. The total prize pool will be
$60,000 with $20,000 allocated to each race. Each race will have a first prize of
$12,000 and will pay out for the first 12 positions. Entry to the race series is via
the purchase of GOLD RUSH rings and they will be available for purchase for the
2023 breeding season. Rings will be $70 each or, if you buy 10 rings you will
receive 3 additional rings at no charge, that’s 13 rings for $700. The series is open
to flyers from Central Highlands Pigeon Combine, VHA, VPO, WPF, GMPF, VRPU,
Geelong, Colac, Warrnambool and Gippsland Clubs. Interstate or out of boundary
breeders are welcome to purchase rings and allocate a loft to fly their birds.
Event spokesperson Jay Ferguson said; There is a real buzz at the club, the
members wanted to come up with a concept for a special race, from there, the
ideas have developed into an exciting series which is unique to anything else out
there. Purchase of a Gold Rush ring will allow entry into all three races in the
series, yes that’s right, all three races. That’s three shots at winning $12,000 or
any of the other prize payouts down to 12th position. Adding even more value, if
you buy 10 rings for $700 you will receive 3 additional rings, that’s 13 rings in
total bringing the price of entry down to a little under $54 if you choose this
option.
Racing will be North West with race points being, Mildura, Coombah and Broken
Hill, birds will be liberated independently with dates TBC. Fairness was an
important consideration when choosing the race points, the members wanted the
race points to be such that any eligible loft, on a given day, conditions favoring,
would be in with a shot to win and of course you’ve got three shots at it.
Full race details along with Terms, Conditions and information on ring sales will be
released in the first quarter of 2023. The members of the Ballarat Invitation
